How to Add IPTV Channels to Plex

If Plex is your primary media hub, you can bring live IPTV channels directly into its interface using its Live TV & DVR feature with an M3U-based tuner.
Requirements
A Plex Pass subscription is generally required to unlock the Live TV & DVR feature, plus your Xtreme HD IPTV M3U playlist URL and EPG URL.
Step 1: Open Live TV & DVR settings
In Plex, go to Settings → Live TV & DVR → Set Up Plex DVR.
Step 2: Add a custom M3U tuner
Instead of scanning for a physical antenna, choose the option for a custom device / M3U tuner and paste your playlist URL.
Step 3: Add your EPG source
Provide your XMLTV EPG URL so Plex can match schedule data to each channel — without this, channels will show with no program information.
Step 4: Map channels
Plex will scan the playlist and let you review and organize the channel list before finishing setup.
Limitations to know about
Plex's DVR recording feature depends on the stream supporting that functionality and enough local storage — treat it as a bonus rather than a guaranteed feature. For simpler live-TV-only viewing, a dedicated player like TiviMate remains more purpose-built.
